Become A Volunteer

Join the excitement of the newly renovated and expanded Stanley Theatre! We are looking for people to join our award-winning volunteer organization as we increase the number of Stanley events. We are looking for people to help us do all we can to enhance the Stanley experience for all our patrons.

Volunteers at the Stanley Theatre play a very special role and are essential to our success! Our volunteers serve as ushers, ticket takers, tour guides, coat check handlers, greeters, receptionists and ambassadors of goodwill to our community. Volunteers have the additional responsibility of ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for our patrons.

Eligibility:

Because the safety and comfort of our patrons is of the utmost importance, there are basic requirements that are expected of our volunteers:

  • The ability to stand for 3 to 5 hours (volunteer seating may not be available during performances)*
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Tolerance to heights (you may be assigned duties in the balcony)
  • Willingness to work a minimum of three events per month. This may include ticketed or non-ticketed (i.e. meetings) events**
  • Professional, outgoing attitude and the ability to work as a team
  • Attend initial training session and other training sessions as required

*If you require the use of a wheelchair, there are certain volunteer positions that you can request to accommodate your needs.

**Volunteers choose their own schedule based on events at The Stanley.

Uniform:

Our volunteers take great pride in their appearance and appreciate that the uniform is comfortable and professional-looking:

  • Black slacks (your own)
  • Black shoes (your own - no sandals or clogs)
  • Plain white, long-sleeved, tailored shirt (your own)
