Chaotic Memory features the work of Nigerian painter Stephen Aifegha and Brooklyn-based artist Howard Skrill. Their work explores issues of identity, both personal and societal. Aifegha's figural paintings invoke the post-colonial struggles of Africans throughout the diaspora, while Skrill's mixed media drawings of contentious public monuments explore the problematic nature of memory and erasure.
The exhibition will be on display at the Kirkland Art Center in Clinton NY from April 20 – May 25, 2024. Artist Howard Skrill will speak at 1:00 p.m. April 19 and the reception will be from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20.
